From Nights People

What a view from the largest hammock in Colombia, a place to sit back with a cold beverage or fresh fruit juice and chat among friends.

Hang out with toucans during the day and wake up to the sound of howler monkeys in the morning. Full service restaurant and bar offering amazing western comfort food made to order, and sourced locally. Menu service during the day with evening meals served family style. Amazing sunsets - with views of the sea and the city below - followed by our nightly campfire. All of our beds are brand new - made by hand and with Pine from the jungle - a great place to catch up on your sleep.

Sunday BBQ's, amazing fruits on site and we are now cooking from the new earth oven - fresh breads and smoked meats. Mountain fresh drinking water, cool breeze, chill vibe, hiking accessible, coffee and canyoning tours, and of course the challenging slack line. We are always adding cool things and recently we put in the new tree house for an even higher lookout.

Darkness sets around 6pm. You will not be able to find transport options from Minca to us after that time. You can depart as early as 6am though.

From Santa Marta and other places on the coast you can easily arrive in the town of Minca by public transport, moto taxis, collectivos and private jeep hires - there are many choices for any budget and it should take approximately 45 mins to 1 hour to arrive in Minca.
Once you are in Minca you have a few choices to arrive at Casa Elemento.
1) you can take a moto taxi from the centre of town directly to the hostel for 15,000-20,000 pesos - time 30 mins.
2) you can hike up the hill in approximately 2 hrs. From town center head right past the church and then the soccer field. Follow this road onward and upwards past Marinka Waterfalls. Follow the sign indicators on the road to know you are on the right track and the last sign will take you down our driveway and to the hostel entrance. The road is well marked and you can ask people along the way if you on the right track. It is one single road you will walk up to get to our driveway. Again, hiking time is approx. 2hrs.
3) you can arrange private jeep transport either through Casa Elemento or a few other private jeep transport companies located in Minca Centre. Driving time from Minca is 1 hr.

Be advised that there are a lot of hiking possibilities in the area and we do encourage our guests to bring a smaller backpack for their time here. Leave the bulk of your belongings at your hostel on the coast in bag storage and bring up what you need. This will give you more options when coming up the hill or returning down upon checkout. Remember though, it does get cooler here in the evenings so be sure to bring a sweatshirt or hoodie to wear around the campfire on the giant hammock.
