Fernloft Malacca (The Heritage Hostel) is located within the UNESCO World Heritage City of Malacca. The kaleidoscopic atmosphere of Eastern & Western culture meshed into one will offers you a unique experience right at our doorstep. Fernloft is nested just next to the famous Jonker Street and across the historic Red Square. Its strategic location offers you a endless choice of street shopping, night market, exotic eateries and historical buildings.

Staying in our heritage hostel offers you the opportunity to experience the rich local Peranakan culture. The building was build in the late 19th century and is currently gazette for conservation. The building structure is left largely untouched since its construction of over a hundred years ago. The architecture is based on Peranakan heritage theme where the facade is painted in pastel color of screaming nyonya green and pink. The center of the building is opened to an air well for natural lighting and ventilation, a typical architectural feature of those historical times. There is even a traditional well that allows you tap natural ground water in the hostel!

Amidst the conservation, you will find modern amenities in our hostel that offers you a comfortable stay. Fernloft is equipped with free WIFI and internet terminals for your convenience. The rooms are air-conditioned and toilets are equipped with modern shower facilities with hot water.

MELAKA CENTRAL BUS TERMINAL

You can take a local bus No.17 from the bus terminal. This bus goes to Chinatown and Taming Sari. The
closest stop to Chinatown is Dutch Square, which you will easily identify from the brick red Christ
Church and Stadthuys; note that No. 17 is a loop line, so when you need to go back to Melaka Sentral you could take it at the same place where you got off. It is better to walk to the other side of Jonker Street and catch it on the left in front of the Payfong School; look for local folks standing around and ask. This cuts half an hour out if the circuit. Note also that there are no bus stop signs in the centre of Melaka. Price is RM1.3/person
