Description

We know that you as a traveller booking a hostel need to know quick and clear answers to the most important questions concerning prices and facilities, so we've put together a brief list of some of the things we have to offer:

Weve got breakfast from 8am to 10.30am, with fruit, cereal and much more.

Theres also a book exchange, bike rental, free internet access, two kitchens and a tours desk.

You catch enjoy our bar and watch all the big championships on television, including the amazing champions league and Sunday Night Football on ESPN.

To talk about yourself is really difficult. We don't feel prepared to do it. We prefer to let the crowd speak for us. We just work very hard to provide great experiences here. We love Rio and we want you all to love it too.

So heres some things people have said about us: 'Books Hostel is a nice hostel with a great decoration and a plethora of cool people.' 'The place is full of cool artwork and has a good vibe'. 'Live here and be happy' is the motto on the wall, and we certainly live by it. The staff are a group of friends who love nothing more than hanging out with guests and make them feel right at home.' 'They help you beyond what you would expect.'If youre travelling alone Books is 'A fantastic place to meet other guests'. 'The hostel is located in the middle of Lapa and Santa Teresa' 'which hosts the most amazing street parties' and 'it is really easy to transport to the City and the Beaches.'

We can say that 'Caring, cultural and fun are the three best words to describe it.'

This is truly a gem of a place!

Directions

From the Bus Station (Novo Rio)
If you arrive during the Day, you can catch a bus. Just cross the Francisco Bicalho Avenue, and take the 497 in the direction of Cosme Velho. Get off the Bus in Riachuelo Street in front of a big night club called Lapa 40. Then walk straight and turn right on Rua Francisco Muratori. If you need help ask people around. Brasilian people really like to help, even when they don't speak the language! However, during the night, it is better to catch a taxi on the street across from the station. The taxi right in front of the station will charge you a fixed price which is usually more expensive. At night it is advisable to use the taxis right outside the station because it is not the safest area.
VERY IMPORTANT: Tell the driver you want to be dropped off at the intersection of Rua Riachuelo and Avenida Gomes Freire in Lapa. From there all you need to do is walk up the hill 1 minute. If you tell them our exact address they will charge you more because the address is officially in Santa Teresa which is more expensive.

From the Santos Dumont Airport (Domestic)
During the day you can take a bus. Just walk to Avenida General Justo, cross the street through the bridge and take the 238 bus (GUA SANTA). You have to leave in the first station after the big Lapa Arches (Impossible not to see). Then you will be at Avenida Mem de S. When you leave the bus, keep going in the direction of the cars and turn the first left at Avenida Gomes Freire. It is already the street of the hostel. Walk one block and the street will change name to Francisco Muratori, then we are in the 4th building on the right (LOOK FOR NUMBER 10 ABOVE THE DOOR). You can also take a Taxi. Again, if you dont want to accept a fixed price, you can walk to a street close by and catch a cab off the street. If you have difficulties, dont refrain from calling the hostel and we will try to help. The cab should cost you around R$10 -15. But better to take a taxi in the airport. It will cost 17 BRL fixed price to Lapa. In the area around the airport there is some big streets where is not so easy to find a cab.
During the day you can also walk. Just walk towards the arches in Lapa and follow the left street (Rua Riachuelo) after the arches. Rua Muratori is the second street on the left.

From the GIG Airport (International)
From here you can take a cab, again watching out for fixed prices, which should cost roughly R$50.00.
A cheaper option is to catch the airport bus to the domestic airport (Santos Dummont). From there you can take a cab for about R$15 or the 238 bus, like we told up before (Check how to arrive from Santos Dumont).

PS: When you arrive look for number 10 above the door, we don't have any external advertising.
